This pretty mare is pure Western Working Family with a sire line back to Linsley through Sparfield and Sparbeau. On her dam’s side, she has two crosses to Red Correll and two crosses to Domino Joe, one of those through Wyoming Flyhawk. Her bottom mare line goes back to some excellent Jubilee King lines. Prairie’s pedigree is one of breeding strength with much of the old foundation Western Working family as well as some excellent old Brunk breeding behind it and good crosses to the Old Midwest also.

Prairie is on breeding lease to Val Cabassiss of Beautifully Balanced Morgans.

Ursulas Higuera Bandita (Higuera Bandido x WoodRose Katrina) from Jo and Brent Johnson of JaF Morgan Stock Horses has joined Old Growth Oak Morgans!  Ursula had her foal to Can Don Joshua Danny on 4-18-08, which will go back to Jo and Brent. 

I will be breeding Ursula to Badger to double up on WoodRose Katrina's bloodlines with the contributing strength of the sirelines of Higuera Bandido and Primavera Valdez.  I believe the cross will be stunning!  Also down the path for Ursula, I will be breeding her to Vining Lamar and OGO Higuera Rio Bravo.  A breeding to Rio will double up on the amazing bloodlines of Higuera Bandido with the combined strengths of the dams, Circle H Merlita and WoodRose Katrina.

With a pedigree of pure old Western Working Family, Merlita brings the old ones up to this century very quickly. She has much of the good old Brunk breeding helping to make the Western Working Family as well as some of the best of the Old Midwest lines too. She traces over and over again to those two cornerstones of the WWF, Elmer Brown and Richard Sellman, the latter coming often through Roland Hill’s breeding in this pedigree. She comes from many generations of working ranch breeding, from breeders selecting for soundness of mind and body.

Circle H Merlita has been retired as a broodmare.

Merlita... thank you for OGO Higuera Rio Bravo.  (Owned by Wendy LeGate and standing at stud for Terry Jensen of TK Land and Cattle Company.)  Rio is the replacement for his sire, Higuera Bandido.  And for... OGO Circle H Hunnewill (gelded and for sale); OGO Circle H Romanesque (Owned by Wendy LeGate and is a stallion prospect as a replacement for his sire, Vining Lamar - currently residing with Terry Jensen in Idaho.); and OGO Circle H RoseWood (owned by Wendy LeGate), which will be retained to take Merlita's place.
